The Norwegian Epics Inaugural Schedule can be found here. CruiseInd’s Norwegian Epic Page
Nothing too surprising except for the overnight stays. She pretty much goes from one port to another. Some even while cruising. Whereas Freedom stayed in ports for 1-2 nights sometimes.

So it is kind of a slow time in the industry. The Dream is delivered and I am still looking for a good walk through of it.
The Oasis is back and settled in from the Sea trials. In fact all the crew have been assigned and will start arriving soon.
I have absolutely no idea why NCL is so tight lipped about the Epic. As you can tell from my Epic page, there has not been a significant update in a while.
So please be patient while these things are built. As always once an update hits of photos leak, they will be here up immediately.

Pretty slow recently. I’m eagerly awaiting photos from the Carnival Dream which has set sail on her maiden voyage.
Carnival reported that it earned 1 Billion (not million) this summer. This is good news as Micky Arison stated that guests are now booking more and more in advance, meaning the market is rebounding.
NCL is launching a new marketing project for the Norwegian Epic. Concentrated on social media (a genius move on their part I believe) and online advertising. You will soon be seeing the phrases “That’s Epic” ; “A world class resort that likes to travel” ; “Blurring the line between journey and destination” ; “7 days that will make your whole year” ; “200 feet of OMG”; and “A butler and a concierge might sound excessive. That’s the point.” Props to NCL for jumping on the social media/new media bandwagon. That is where the future of advertising lays. Now if only they can exploit their twitter to its fullest extent.

Norwegian Cruise Line is finally pulling themselves out of the big hole they dug themselves into. NCL recently released their Q2 earnings, and things are looking up for the third largest cruise line. NCL posted a profit of $15.4 million. This time last year they had a loss of $27 million. Lets dive into the figures:
- NCL’s revenue fell to $478 million. Last year it was $525 million.
- Ship’s occupancy was up to 109% percent compared to 107% last year. (NOTE: A ship is considered 100% full when all lower berths are occupied. A higher than 100% occupancy rate means that all lower berths and some upper berths/sofa’s are occupied)
NCL contributed several things to these numbers
- NCL’s reduction of their Hawaiian operation, NCL America, contributed to higher profitability for that operation. With the other two ships gone, the m/s Pride of America can now garner higher fares.
- Lower fuel prices helped keep down costs.
- NCL corporate strategic plan is paying off. The reduction of responsibility of Colin Veitch and the emergence of Kevin Sheehan helped the line take a fresh approach. Sheehan went through the entire NCL operation and refined it and cut waste.
In closing, I wish NCL the best of luck. Competition can only help the consumer in the end. Here’s to NCL and best of luck to their launch of the Norwegian Epic, which I will cover closely through this blog so stay tuned.
